ESMO 2026 results highlight prospective deployment of VTrial™ in an active oncology trial to support efficacy endpoints, including AI-assisted RECIST 1.1 assessment
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Vysioneer Inc. announced the prospective deployment of its VTrial AI platform in a pharma-sponsored oncology clinical trial to support treatment efficacy assessment.
While AI is gaining attention across drug development, much of the industry’s work remains at the proof-of-concept stage, relying on retrospective or post hoc analyses of historical trial data. Prospective deployment marks an important shift toward integrating AI directly into active clinical trials to support more efficient and reproducible efficacy assessment.
To our knowledge, this is the first reported prospective use of AI-assisted RECIST 1.1 as an efficacy endpoint in a pharma-sponsored oncology clinical trial.
The published ESMO 2026 abstract reports that an independent AI-assisted central read produced confirmed objective response rate and confirmed disease control rate consistent with local investigator-assessed outcomes. The findings demonstrate the feasibility of AI-assisted endpoints in prospective clinical trials and illustrate how enhanced efficacy evidence could support clinical development decisions.
“AI has tremendous potential in clinical trials, but the important step is moving beyond retrospective and post hoc analyses into prospective development,” said Jen-Tang Lu, PhD, founder and CEO of Vysioneer. “VTrial has been deployed directly in active oncology trials to generate high-quality efficacy evidence and support earlier clinical development decisions.”
VTrial serves as AI infrastructure for oncology clinical development, providing both AI-powered RECIST and advanced biomarker analytics to transform clinical trial data into richer, more actionable insights.
This milestone reflects Vysioneer’s mission to bring effective cancer treatments to patients faster by supporting pharma and biotech partners with more efficient, reproducible efficacy assessment and earlier decision-making.
