AHVAP Announces New Strategic Partnership in FDA TAP Program: Advancing Our Specialty and Strengthening Our Partnership
ATLANTA, GA, UNITED STATES, September 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) today announced that it has been welcomed as a participating non-FDA party in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program (TAP) Pilot, administered by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).
The TAP Pilot is designed to give participating medical device developers, known as TAP Innovators, earlier and more frequent interactions with CDRH, along with more strategic engagement with non-FDA parties such as professional associations, clinicians, and payers. The goal is to support more rapid development of, and more rapid and widespread patient access to, safe, effective, high-quality medical devices of public health importance.
Through the program, TAP Innovators may request early engagement with non-FDA parties like AHVAP. The FDA anticipates these engagements may focus on strategies for clinical adoption, incorporation into professional guidelines, publication, coding, coverage and payment, and measurement of outcomes that matter to patients and healthcare providers.
For many innovators, the path from FDA authorization to real-world use runs directly through hospital value analysis committees. AHVAP members are the professionals who evaluate new products for clinical evidence, safety, cost, and operational impact before those products reach the bedside. By participating in TAP, AHVAP will help innovators understand what health systems need to see, earlier in the development process, so that promising technologies are better positioned for evidence-based adoption.
