SALT LAKE CITY , UT, UNITED STATES, September 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Saturday, January 23, 2027 at 7:30 pm, the Eccles Theater in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, is going to boogie down, down up on down as the Sound Support Foundation and the Professor of Rock honor nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning icons and one of the best-selling artists of all time, Earth, Wind & Fire, as the 2027 People’s Music Hall of Fame inductees. Earth, Wind & Fire legends Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson will share stories from their remarkable careers and perform alongside Utah’s award-winning Soundhouse Artists during the event.

Since their formation in Chicago in 1969 by music legend Maurice White, Earth, Wind & Fire have charted a history that will live on forever. From the funky and infectious “Let’s Groove” to the timeless dance classic “September” to the heartfelt “Reasons,” the band’s iconic catalog of hits has become the soundtrack to many lives. They’ve released 23 albums, eight of which went Double Platinum and hit the Top 10, scored eight number one hits, and have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling artists of all time. Boasting an impressive nine GRAMMY Awards including one for Lifetime Achievement (2012), Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, and in 2019, their contributions to arts and culture were acknowledged in Washington DC with the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors. Additionally, the band has been awarded with Lifetime Achievement honors from ASCAP, NAACP, BET, and have star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and dozens of other honors spanning their illustrious career.

In addition to Earth, Wind & Fire, the induction ceremony will feature a number of special guests who will perform with Earth, Wind & Fire and the Soundhouse artists, including:
– Myron McKinley, longtime keyboardist and music director for Earth, Wind & Fire
– Rashawn Ross, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member of the Dave Matthews Band
– Tom “Bones” Malone, original member of the Blues Brothers and former bandleader of the Saturday Night Live Band
The People’s Music Hall of Fame is a joint effort between the Sound Support Foundation and the Professor of Rock, honoring the voices, songs and stories that have shaped generations of listeners, providing a platform to recognize the cultural and artistic importance of music across genres. The induction ceremony will feature a live interview with Earth, Wind & Fire by Adam Reader and performances of the bands biggest hits by the artists of Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse – a collective of over 200 award-winning young musicians.
